Lisa Slaymaker

I fell into a career in childcare for 21 years and after a change in personal circumstances I decided to follow my childhood dream of working with Dogs.

I lost my mum suddenly in 2012 and one thing that helped us cope as a family was taking care of her pride and joy, Marley, her black Labrador Retriever. Losing my mum taught me just how short life can be.

​

When Marley passed away a few years later, it triggered my passion for Dogs and my childhood dream of working with them.

​

In 2019 I decided to take the plunge and visited a dog grooming salon for a taster day. This was at Canine Design in Evercreech - an award winning salon and family-run business. After this training day I knew it was the career for me so I booked to train for my City & Guilds level 2 and 3 qualification.

Taking that step to achieve my dream was the best thing I have ever done and I've never looked back. Being around dogs all day certainly is good for the soul.

​

In 2022, I took the big step of starting my own business, Clippin' Marvellous. I only wish I did it sooner.

​

I now offer a wide range of Dog Grooming Services from a beautiful custom-designed salon in Cliddesden, Basingstoke, Hampshire.
